AFLP Funding

AFLP Funding

The Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) works with high risk teens, their children and their families. It is a prevention based program using a Positive Youth Development (PYD) model. Over the years it has demonstrated great success in California.

The Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) has demonstrated great success in California. Using a Positive Youth Development model, this school-based program has helped thousands of young women and men over the years. However, each year funding cuts close AFLP programs and our young people lose the opportunity to build their resilience, to receive ongoing support from their teachers and develop life and parenting skills. The goals of the AFLP program are:

  • Reduce repeat pregnancy and birth
  • Increase the high school graduation rates and promote educational or vocational advancement
  • Improve parent and child health
  • Improve linkages and create local networks of support for expectant and parenting youth.

There is a great need for increased, rather than decreased, funding for AFLP. Please review the attached resources and share your thoughts with your elected officials.
